Streetfighter motorbikes are the idea of UK motorcycle riders around 1990's. They modified the large motorbikes in to street fighter sport bikes for short distance travelling at high speed. They removed the fairings and provided them with large head Lamps up right handle bars that makes the elbow to be straight while riding. Also they modified the silencers with short, loud, lightweight silencers to make the bike to look aggressive. Riders' feet are tucked at the back of the body with specially designed tougher frame. The rider will not have much resistance from the facing air flow. These kinds of handle bars allow for easy to take curves and short bends on these motorbikes. They used many specially designed chrome parts to make them shine on the streets and to attract the viewers with its look and performance. There is another version that is called Naked Streetfighter. These don’t have any fairing to hide its engine or its frame. They are clearly visible on these modified version and factory manufactured Naked Street fighter models. Lot of people had bought these factory made motorbikes without knowing that they are Street Fighter versions.
In this year 2024 standard Streetfighter models are provided with OBD scanner, Quick Shifter, Dual Channel ABS and All round LED Lighting facility.
Later the Japanese companies took these ideas and brought their own factory models to the world market. Earlier models were coming with 1,000cc Engines that were liquid or oil cooled. Now the motorcycle companies are manufacturing 150cc up to 750cc street fighter’s that are available at affordable price for third world country people too. Streetfighters are made with minimal products to make it with less weight. Less weight means more power for the machine with good Torque. Most of the Streetfighter designers think about speed and sound of the engine. They don't look for beauty. For your safety wear protective clothes and gears along with Helmet and make sure your Streetfighter is provided with dual channel ABS disc brakes for the rear and front system.
Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki companies are making 150 and 160cc motorbikes to meet the streetfighter styling with aggressive styling with attractive colors and graphics. They can be bought with single or dual disk brakes with single channel ABS or dual channel ABS along with upside down front forks. These streetfighter Motorcycles are designed with the idea of making it with superior Torque. Japanese Motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha had MT series with top level torque. In Sri Lanka lot of Streetfighter models under 160cc are available with youngsters in the recent times. Most of them are Yamaha machines. Mean while Honda, Suzuki and Bajaj too are having good share of the Street Fighter model sales in Sri Lanka. Most of them are coming with special metallic colors and with good graphics. Good one is selling around Rs 500,000/- and most of them buy at installment plan.
